"The sites are lagging!" - When 120 WordPress sites are having a meltdown... and how KeepSec found the solution.

At KeepSec, we're passionate about the performance of your websites. That's why we offer a state-of-the-art cloud infrastructure, personalized support, and our clients are – for the most part – thrilled. But as with any good story, there are sometimes unexpected events... And because we love to share our expertise, we're announcing free training on CloudPanel coming soon. More details at the end of this article...

The Challenge: Unequal Sharing, Fickle Memory, and Other Surprises...

When migrating from cPanel and WHC to CloudPanel with KeepSec, our client wanted to find simplified management for their WordPress sites, while also benefiting from better performance. They quickly discovered that migration did not mean an unlimited capacity to group their sites without considering server load – a problem that could just as easily have occurred with cPanel, by the way. CloudPanel, however, offers powerful tools to avoid this kind of situation. But in IT, apparent simplicity can sometimes hide complex realities. And in this case, the challenge was threefold: ensuring a balanced distribution of the load on the servers, optimizing memory usage, and activating caching for optimal performance, specifically for WordPress. Fortunately, CloudPanel greatly simplifies these tasks!

The Diagnosis: A Thorough Investigation

Our team of pros (code experts and load average detectives) looked into the problem. After a careful analysis, they found that the distribution of websites was... how shall we say... original. The server with 4 CPUs (Diamond) was having an easy time with a load of 0.24, while the other two were overworked: the server with 1 CPU (Emerald) showed a load of 13 (!!!), and the one with 2 CPUs (Sapphire), a load of 4. On top of that, some websites had a memory limit of 2 GB, which didn't help matters. And to add insult to injury: caching was disabled!

The Solution: A Three-Pronged Approach (and CloudPanel to the Rescue!)

Aware of the importance of performance for our clients, we acted quickly. First, we corrected the memory limits of the websites, to avoid excessive resource consumption. With CloudPanel, it is very easy to manage the memory allocated to each site, offering precise control and appreciable flexibility. Then, tactfully and pedagogically, we explained to our client the impact of this uneven distribution and the crucial importance of caching for WordPress. CloudPanel also facilitates the activation and configuration of caching, which greatly contributes to boosting performance. We then worked with them to redistribute the websites more equitably, taking into account the power of each server. The goal: that each CPU manages about 20 websites, for a more even load, and with caching activated, of course!

The Bonus: Free CloudPanel Training for WordPress Pros!

Because we love to share our expertise and help our clients progress, we decided to make our CloudPanel training accessible to everyone! Our next blog article will be on this very subject: a complete and free training to help you master CloudPanel and optimize your WordPress servers. You will learn, among other things, how to manage memory per website and configure caching simply and effectively for optimal performance.
